In Italian, the term "alla prima" means "at first attempt". In other words, the paintings are completed in a single session, on location, without further layers or refinements in the studio. Alla prima paintings tend more toward impressionistic than realistic, while the subjects are definitely recognizable.
DAY 100!!!!! WOOT WOOT! Even in the rain - got it done! Painting through the windshield wipers at Chapoquoit Beach... fun colors... and included the swim dock and lines going out into the water from Bowerman's Beach Club. This one is 10"x10" oil on gallery wrap canvas (1-1/2"deep)
