This painting has been completed "alla prima."
In Italian, the term "alla prima" means "at first attempt". In other words, the paintings are completed in a single session, on location, without further layers or refinements in the studio. Alla prima paintings tend more toward impressionistic than realistic, while the subjects are definitely recognizable.
The road from Woods Hole to Falmouth includes a breathtaking view of Vineyard Sound to the right, and Nobska Light to the left.
10"x10" oil on gallery wrap canvas - that's canvas that has a 1-1/2" profile. May be hung on the wall as is, or there are deeper frames available for it (I have several available to choose from in my gallery.)
This one is priced slightly more than the other alla prima paintings, as I spent considerably more time on it this afternoon. It is still offered at a considerable discount from full gallery pricing.
