Day 46 of the "54 paintings of Falmouth Beaches in 54 days" project to celebrate that where we are in 2021 vs. where we were at this time last year!
Day 46. A Falmouth Beach paintings collection would not be complete without a Chapoquoit Beach sunset!
I used to paint a LOT of sunsets. This was the first in live time rather than from a photo, with a palette knife. Tricky. Colors and shapes constantly changing. And a challenge to capture the colors, as putting wet yellow paint into blue yellow paint runs the risk of showing up as green in the sky (not a good thing!) Also lost the light as the sunset progressed... so couldn't really see what I was painting! Had to capture a moment in time and go with it. Painting is 8"x10" oil on traditional stretched canvas.
This painting has been sold.
